Ode to Telephone Sales
At 9:34 p.m. on 2002-06-18

Description: After a more exciting day at work, when an interesting co-worker named Dennis, who helped liven up my day, suggested I think up a poem on the spot, I thought up this one. Needless to say, they never sat me by him again. :*( *sniff* It's interested how some people that you only interact with a few times effect your life in big ways, while others you've known for years are just "there" in some cases..

Telemarketing sucks

But, I need the bucks

I can't seem to find a job

That doesn't piss off a mob

My boyfriend's cousin says

I'm no better than a roach

But I can't help my fate

I'm stuck sitting in coach

This job may not pay much

But it seems I have the touch

For annoying people all day

It's just how I earn my pay

I can't say I really enjoy

The place of my employ

I don't like making people mad

But sometimes its not so bad

All that I can say

Is, thanks for your time, have a nice day

Sorry to have bothered you

But hey, I need a job too

I may be as low as it gets

But at least I haven't called it quits

Take pity on me when I call

It's just my job, nothing personal at all

The least you can say is goodbye

Don't be mean or you'll make me cry

It's a hard job, but somebody's gotta do it

Just thank God you haven't been put through it..

Jaded Poet, Lonely in Company
. . . and a pen rests by the chalice, pull up a chair by this, the fire, drink long, the ink and wine are able, the script leaps from hand, into the pyre,
. . . yes, the bottle is half full, pull the cork and pour another, hide your eyes deep in the swallow, and we'll burn this script together,
. . . damn the feather, pour the ink, and let the ruin stain those lips, I beg and hope to share this hour, but those hands of yours, will never leave your hips.
