This poem was actually inspired by Britney Spears, because she's just so damned FAKE! I was listening to one of her songs on the radio & just thinking "Goddess, what an idiot!" & that's what inspired this, shortly thereafter.

Little girl

Why try so hard

To reach goals you cannot foresee

Little girl

Why lie so much to others

And to me

Little girl

Why so much pain

And joy in this oppositely small & huge world

Little girl

Why don't you see

The possibility in each small golden curl

Little girl

Don't take yourself for granted

Don't try to teach to those who cannot hear

Don't try to open doors to those who cannot fathom

For they will, in time's sweet year

Learn the secrets, & the rhyme

. . . and a pen rests by the chalice, pull up a chair by this, the fire, drink long, the ink and wine are able, the script leaps from hand, into the pyre,
. . . yes, the bottle is half full, pull the cork and pour another, hide your eyes deep in the swallow, and we'll burn this script together,
. . . damn the feather, pour the ink, and let the ruin stain those lips, I beg and hope to share this hour, but those hands of yours, will never leave your hips.
